(CE) Complying with Foreign Law in Establishing International Programs

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

In education abroad, U.S. based colleges, universities and providers need to comply with and be cognizant of local laws and regulations for the countries in which they operate. Through their own professional experience with programs abroad, the presenters will explore legal, regulatory and other compliance requirements abroad that may impact each college or university’s current or future international operations. Various considerations include hiring local staff, complying with tax laws and forming legal entities (if required) to ensure legal compliance. While complying with regulations abroad, universities and colleges must also consider their own institutional standards and guidelines. This session will further explore the idea of institutional health, safety and crisis management standards that go beyond the field's minimum requirements by creating augmented individualized standards or guidelines to help colleges, universities and providers review, identify, articulate and personalize their own enhanced health and safety standards within the context of international compliance.
Learning Objectives:
 Establishing a local presence abroad in countries where they have International programs
 Gaining a better understanding of how host countries' labor laws and regulations apply to U.S. organizations
 Learning how to create their own institutional standards or guidelines for their institutions operations abroad
