(CE) Emergency Management Standards: Their Crucial Role in Planning

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Each of the standards applicable to higher education emergency management has pros and cons. All bring something of value, and all have gaps, some of them surprising. Do you pick a single one, or cherry-pick the best of each? Should you simply rely on "best practices" instead of using standards? Whether you are actively involved in emergency planning and could use some big-picture perspective, or on the sidelines at your school and want to be able to engage intelligently with your emergency management practitioner/s, a knowledge of the standards and the vital help they can offer to ensure your plan is optimized for your school, will be good for you professionally.
Learning Objectives:
 Understand the identity, history, context and role
of the major emergency planning standards as
they apply to higher education
 Observe how they can be used to accelerate
emergency plan development
 Become acquainted with the UCC Crosswalk of
Emergency Planning Standards, and find
nuggets of practical value in them
