Erike Young is the director of environment, health, and safety for the University of California (UC), Office of the President. As the director of EH&S, Mr. Young is responsible for providing system-wide direction, coordination, and assistance to the campuses, hospitals, and national laboratories in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures, and programs necessary to maintain a safe and healthy environment for faculty, staff, students, patients, and all UC visitors.

Erike is a Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and has earned the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation. He was recently elected to the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Board of Directors as the regional vice president for region 1, which included oversight for chapters in California, Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Hawaii. In 2012, Erike was recognized by ASSE as the Edgar Monsanto Queeny Safety Professional of the year.
